What is your position/title at The Learning Center?
Supplemental Instruction Leader for General Psychology

What do you enjoy most about working with MSU students?
I get to work with some amazing students who I would have never met otherwise. There’s no better feeling than seeing one of my S.I. students on campus and being able to call him or her by name. I feel so proud when I see them working hard to thrive in college. I think they inspire me far more than I inspire them!

What is the most important advice that you would give students?
Be bold. Raise your hand in class and ask for help when you need it. This quote has helped me live fearlessly and it’s the best advice I can give, “You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it” (Benjamin Mee).

Why should students take advantage of The Learning Center?
Students should take advantage of The Learning Center because it is one of the best tools on campus. School can feel like a crazy mess sometimes, but there are people who are trained to help you make sense of it all. There’s a misconception that you only go to The Learning Center if you are struggling. But in reality, the students who walk through that door are probably the smartest ones on campus because they’re asking for help.

What are your hobbies or what do you do in your spare time?
I write a LOT. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a journal, on my computer, or on the back of my hand. I’m always writing or thinking about something I really should be writing down. I’ll never say no to a cup of coffee and good conversation, and I always have a song stuck in my head.

What is your major/ hometown?
I’ve lived in a lot of places, but Jackson, Mississippi is home now. I’m a Communication major, with an emphasis in Public Relations.

Extra Activities?
When I’m not in class or SI sessions, I’m a research assistant at the Social Science Research Center. I also lead a Bible study with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) and am a member of Kappa Delta.
