Computer Lab Policies

  1. Lab A, Room 246
    • may be used only if reserved through The Learning Center. Call 325-2957 for reservations. The Computer Lab Reservation Form MUST be filled out by the instructor of record. These forms may be picked up in The Learning Center, Allen 267 or obtained online at: http://www.tlc.msstate.edu/labs/reserve/.
    • will be reserved on an as-needed basis. It is not intended to be reserved for a particular class for every class period for an entire semester, with the exception of EPY 4214, 6214 and 8214 Labs only (and these EPY labs must be reserved first through The Learning Center prior to the deadline for submission of classes/ rooms to the Registrar's Office).
  2. Lab B, Room 264
    • This lab will remain open for walk-ins. However, if conflicts arise regarding the use of LAB A, Lab B may be reserved on rare occasions for small groups or classes with prior approval from the Director of The Learning Center. In that instance, walk-in students must be allowed to remain in the lab.
  3. Please submit dates and times for use of Lab A, Room 246, prior to 5:00 p.m. on the 5th class day of the semester or the last date for adding a class on the academic calendar for each semester. After the 5th class day, please submit requests 24 hours in advance for best service. Only 8 hours will be approved prior to the date noted above.
  4. Please contact The Learning Center (325-2957) for cancellations. If the lab has been reserved and is not used for that reserved time period, the following will occur:
    • First time: an e-mail will be sent to the instructor of record with a reminder to cancel ahead of time when the lab is no longer needed
    • Second time: an e-mail will be sent to the instructor of record and a carbon copy will be sent to the respective department head
    • Third time: an e-mail will be sent to the instructor of record and a carbon copy will be sent to the respective department head and the Dean
  5. If the lab policies are not followed for any reason, the following will occur:
    • First time: an e-mail will be sent to the instructor of record explaining the policy
    • Second time: an e-mail will be sent to the instructor of record and a carbon copy will be sent to the respective department head
    • Third time: an e-mail will be sent to the instructor of record and a carbon copy will be sent to the respective department head and the Dean

Three computer labs, all incorporated into MSU's print network (fees automatically charged to MSU accounts), are available to MSU students and faculty free of charge.
