Learning Skills
Support Program (LSSP)
Typically, a student must stay out a semester after being suspended. As an alternative, the Office of the Provost and The Learning Center designed a program that allows students to stay in school and improve their academic progress. The program is called the Learning Skills Support Program (LSSP).
If a student's academic advisor, department head, and dean agree on this option, a student will be allowed to enroll the following semester taking no more than 12-14 hours, rather than sitting out a semester. The Learning Skills Support Program is being offered to students who began enrollment at MSU in the fall of 2004 or after.
There are four main obligations a student must fulfill as a participant in the LSSP, and they are as follows:
- meet with the LSSP Coordinator in the Learning Center every two weeks,
- meet with his or her academic advisor during a specific period during the semester
- complete a specified section of LSK 1023: College Reading & Study Skills, and
- maintain a 2.0 or higher for the semester in which they are enrolled in the program.
In its fifth semester, the Learning Skills Support Program (LSSP) is running smoothly. Below you can see the success rate of the program for the three prior semesters:
